Position Summary:
The Brewery Operations & Sales Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of brewery production, quality control, inventory management, and facility maintenance, while also directly managing and driving the performance of the sales team. This individual will ensure efficient and high-quality beer production, optimize operational workflows, and lead strategic sales initiatives to achieve ambitious growth targets. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong understanding of brewing science, excellent operational acumen, and a proven track record in sales management.
Key Responsibilities
Brewery Operations:
Production Management:
Plan, schedule, and oversee all brewing, fermentation, conditioning, packaging (canning, kegging), and cellaring operations.
Develop and implement efficient production schedules to meet sales demands and inventory targets.
Monitor and optimise raw material usage, production yields, and overall operational efficiency.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, equipment malfunctions, and schedule changes.
Quality Control & Assurance:
Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures throughout the brewing process, from raw materials to finished product.
Manage and oversee sensory evaluation.
Ensure consistent beer quality, flavour profiles, and adherence to brand specifications.
Inventory & Supply Chain:
Manage raw material procurement, inventory levels, and relationships with suppliers.
Oversee finished goods inventory, warehousing, and logistics for distribution.
Implement effective inventory management systems to minimize waste and optimize stock levels.
Maintenance & Facilities:
Oversee routine maintenance, cleaning, and sanitization of all brewing equipment, machinery, and facility areas.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Identify and recommend capital improvements and equipment upgrades.
Team Leadership & Development (Operations):
Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise brewing and packaging staff.
Foster a positive, safe, and productive work environment.
Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
Sales Management:
Sales Strategy & Execution:
Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue and market share goals across various channels (on-premise, off-premise, direct-to-consumer).
Identify new market opportunities and develop plans for expansion.
Analyse sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
Sales Team Leadership:
Lead, motivate, and manage the sales team, including setting performance targets, conducting regular meetings, and providing coaching and training.
Develop and implement sales incentives and recognition programs.
Oversee sales reporting, CRM management, and pipeline development.
Qualifications:
Education:
Professional brewing certifications are a strong asset.
Experience:
Minimum of [5+] years of progressive experience in brewery operations, as Lead Brewer with at least [2-3+] years in a management or supervisory role.
Experience in sales | marketing management, preferably within the beverage is a strong asset.
Technical Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of brewing processes, equipment, and quality control principles.
Familiarity with AGLC regulations and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in inventory management software and production planning tools.
Strong understanding of sales methodologies, and sales analytics.
Software skills required - MS Excel, Mailchimp, and CRM systems.
Leadership & Management Skills:
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
Exceptional organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Passion for craft beer and a deep understanding of the industry.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
