Position: Security Support Unit Guard

City: Brampton

Status: Full-Time

Pay Rate: $16.74 / an hour

Hours: Various Shifts

Sites: City of Brampton and William Osler Health Sciences

The purpose of the Security Support Unit position is to provide coverage to the healthcare and non-healthcare Paladin sites in the Brampton region. Employees assigned to the Specialized Security Support Unit position will be expected to cover positions in their assigned area that they are dispatched to. If the shift they are assigned to cancels, the Specialized Security Support Unit Guard may be required to transfer to another open shift in their assigned area, to ensure they are receiving a full 12-hour shift. This position will be site trained at City of Brampton and William Osler Health Sciences.

This is a unique role within Paladin that will provide employees the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas and become versatile in the security industry. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in healthcare, government buildings, mobile, and transit terminals.

Job Duties:

• Working on assigned shifts, you will work full time hours providing proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents.
• Write reports and investigate routine incidents, as well as respond to coded emergencies in a quick and efficient manner.
• Display excellent customer service skills and be able to work with people who are under stress or in need of medical assistance.
• In this role, it is essential that you are physically fit and able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

• Comprehend and demonstrate competencies of City of Brampton and the Security policies and procedures with an ability to use a customer service approach
• Be attentive to the needs of the visitors and as well as be able to build relationships with the city community.
• Be able to keep an open and objective mind, remembering the city\xe2\x80\x99s diverse community.
• Completing proactive patrols for terminal lobbies and customer service areas
• Deterring and enforcing prohibited acts such as loitering, panhandling, smoking, alcohol use, skateboarding, and cycling on platforms and driveways
• Performing other related duties as assigned by the city.
• Being alert and observant while being outside, standing or walking for an extended period in all weather conditions (Rain, Snow, Excessive Heat & Cold\xe2\x80\xa6etc.)
• Maintain communications with fellow Security Guard/dispatchers, Cliental and Paladin Managerial Staff.
• Ensures all site staff adhere to all Paladin Security policies and procedures
• Communicates any concerns/issues with Supervisor/Client Service Manager or the client

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a security role is required
• A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• WSIB Approved First Aid / CPR Level \xe2\x80\x93 C
• A Valid G Class Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License with a Clean Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract
• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• Vulnerable Sector Check
• COVID Double Vaccination & Immunizations are required
• Customer Service Experience

Education Requirements (Any)

High School Diploma/GED
Post secondary education in law enforcement from a recognized institution or equivalent experience

Certification Requirements (Any)

Immunization Record
COVID Double Vaccinated
Valid G Licence
Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
Valid Ontario Security License
