We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Boring and Tunneling Foreman to join our team. This position will mainly be field based. The Tunneling Company offers a range of fit-to-purpose tunneling solutions, including Guided Boring, Down-the-Hole Hammer, Auger Boring, Pipe Ramming, Microtunneling and more. We manage the entire process from pre-planning and design through to construction.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Supervise, Direct and assist crews were needed with project preparation tasks such as commissioning and inspecting equipment and loading/unloading trucks
• Set-up the drilling systems including generators, ABMs, GBMs, Pipe Ramming equipment, lubrication systems, etc.
• Operate the drilling equipment and supervise the preparation, addition, and removal of all drill pipe or GBM pilot tubes.
• Supervise the drilling crew and control the drilling operations.
• Monitor all drilling parameters and all equipment operating parameters.
• Supervise all energy isolation activities (lock-out/tag-out) and all confined space entry activities.
• Ensure all requirements of the Site Hazard Assessment, Site Specific Safety Plan and Emergency Response Plan are fully integrated into the task planning.
• Assist the Operations Manager in preparation for mobilization, to ensure that all equipment is operationally ready, and that all equipment/tools are fully equipped and stocked.
• Disassemble (rig-out) as required, stow and otherwise prepare the drilling equipment for de-mobilization.
• Use hand tools, small power tools and portable equipment as required.
• Responsible for loading and unloading equipment on/off delivery and transportation vehicles, which may involve rigging and hoisting.
• Provide manual labour and ground support for moving equipment and materials on the worksite.
• Maintain worksite & equipment, ensure material organization and cleanliness.
• Participate in safety meetings, completing FLHA's and Hazard ID's.
• Perform other duties as required.
Experience and Training Requirements
Required
• 5+ years of boring and tunneling construction experience
• Valid Class 5 Driver Licence with a clean drivers abstract & reliable transportation
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test prior to employment
• Successfully complete a 50lbs, Level II Health Assessment
Asset
• Welding ticket/experience
• Safety tickets including but not limited to Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED, Rigging Training, WHMIS 2015
