Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper/Payroll specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing payroll processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a solid understanding of financial concepts, including GAAP, double-entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial health of our organization, whether in corporate, non-profit, or governmental accounting environments.

Duties



Manage and maintain accurate general ledger accounting using software such as QuickBooks. Perform bank reconciliations and account analysis to ensure accuracy of financial data. Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, and ensure proper posting within the general ledger. Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure timely and accurate processing. Oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and accurate employee payments. Assist with budgeting processes and financial report writing for internal and external stakeholders. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation regularly to verify account balances. Maintain detailed documentation of all bookkeeping activities and support audits as needed. Ensure adherence to GAAP standards and governmental accounting regulations where applicable. Support tax preparation activities by providing relevant financial data and reports.

Experience



Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of accounting principles including double-entry bookkeeping, GAAP, and financial concepts. Experience in corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, or governmental accounting preferred. Familiarity with payroll processing systems and tax regulations related to payroll is required. Ability to perform bank reconciliations, account analysis, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation accurately. Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable management and budget preparation is desirable. Excellent organizational skills with proficiency in 10 key typing for data entry accuracy. Prior experience in public accounting or financial reporting is a plus but not mandatory.
