Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, adaptable
Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant
to support the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of our housing facility. The successful candidate will work with
NewViews software
, a specialized accounting and housing management platform. While prior experience with NewViews is not required,
strong bookkeeping skills and a willingness to learn new systems and procedures are essential
.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently in a small office setting, has a genuine interest in supporting seniors, and can follow processes that meet the standards set by government funders and housing authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform full-cycle bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting
Maintain tenant rent rolls, subsidies, and housing charges in compliance with DSSAB guidelines
Input and manage data in NewViews accounting software (training will be provided)
Assist with year-end reporting, audits, and the Annual Information Return (AIR)
Provide general administrative support such as filing, correspondence, scheduling inspections or maintenance
Respond to inquiries from tenants and service providers with professionalism and discretion
Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure timely and accurate reporting to funders
Required Qualifications:
Proven bookkeeping experience with strong understanding of accounting principles
Proficiency in Excel and digital record keeping
High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with seniors
Comfortable learning and adapting to new software systems (experience with NewViews is an asset but not required)
Must be able to follow established procedures and workflows
Desirable Traits:
Experience in a non-profit, housing, or government-funded organization
Familiarity with affordable or community housing administration
A solutions-oriented mindset and openness to learning
Work Schedule and Compensation:
Casual to part-time, approximately 10-20 hours per week (flexible based on operational needs)
Hourly wage commensurate with experience
Potential for increased hours during reporting periods (e.g., year-end, audits)
