to join our growing commercial construction company. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing the full cycle of accounting within a construction environment. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, preparing monthly reports, reconciling accounts, and supporting project managers with job cost tracking and budget reporting.
A strong understanding of construction billing, progress draws, subcontractor payments, and compliance documentation (WSIB, insurance, statutory declarations) is essential. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate financial management to support project and company success.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
Process invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Assist with payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations
Monitor and manage job costing, ensuring expenses are properly allocated to projects
Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis
Assist in financial audits and tax preparations
Prepare year end financial reports
Ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations, including HST and subcontractor compliance
Work closely with project managers and leadership to provide financial insights
Experience
The successful candidate will have:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
3+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in the construction industry
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Quickbooks, Viewpoint, or similar)
Strong knowledge of job costing and construction accounting principles
Familiarity with progress billing and contract payment applications (preferred)
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $42,878.19-$85,661.59 per year
