Job Summary:

Are you an experienced accounting professional with a passion for accuracy and organization? D Spot, renowned for its decadent desserts and one of Canada's fastest-growing restaurant chains, is looking for a Bookkeeper with 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience and advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO). This role is critical in overseeing day-to-day financial operations including payroll, royalty calculations, reconciliations, compliance, and reporting. The ideal candidate will be mature, detail-oriented, and able to work independently, supporting the financial processes that drive the continued growth of our franchise network.



Key Responsibilities:



Full-Cycle Bookkeeping & Accounts Management: Manage all daily accounting functions including A/P, A/R, general ledger, bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting in QuickBooks Online. Payroll & Royalty Management: Oversee payroll for corporate staff and process franchise royalty fee withdrawals, ensuring compliance with agreements and accuracy in execution. Reconciliations: Complete monthly reconciliations of accounts (bank, credit card, intercompany, and balance sheet) to maintain accurate and reliable records. Cash Flow & Payments: Monitor cash flow, prepare vendor payments, manage operational expenses, and maintain strong liquidity controls. Compliance & Government Filings: Prepare and file HST, WSIB, EHT, and other statutory filings accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations. Financial Reporting & Analytics: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements; provide sales and performance reporting for management decision-making. Year-End Support: Collaborate with external accountants for year-end closing, tax preparation, and audits by providing reconciliations and supporting schedules. Process Optimization: Recommend and support improvements to accounting systems, controls, and procedures for greater efficiency and scalability.

Qualifications:



Experience: Minimum 3+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience with proven full-cycle accounting expertise. Franchise or restaurant industry experience is a strong asset. Software Proficiency: Advanced QuickBooks Online (QBO) skills are required; strong Excel and Google Workspace proficiency are also essential. Technical Knowledge: Hands-on knowledge of payroll, reconciliations, financial reporting, and statutory filings (HST, WSIB, etc.). Detail-Oriented & Analytical: Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills with the ability to spot and resolve discrepancies. Professionalism: Mature, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision while handling sensitive financial data. Education: College diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred (CPA designation is an asset but not required). Collaboration: Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with franchisees, external accountants, and internal teams.
