We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage our financial records and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a full-time Bookkeeper to fill a medical leave to be responsible for maintaining the financial records of Westgate Alliance Church and Westgate Heights Attainable Housing. This role involves processing financial transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess strong attention to detail, and have a solid understanding of bookkeeping principles.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, and payroll.
Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and efficiently.
Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (knowledge of QuickBooks is an asset).
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial reports for the church leadership.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Manage payroll processing, including calculating wages, deductions, and remittances.
Maintain confidentiality of all financial information.
Respond to financial inquiries from staff.
Assist with year-end audit preparations.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Pastor or designated leadership.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in a non-profit or religious organization.
Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
Proficiency in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
A basic understanding of payroll processing.
