Job Description

Position Overview:

STR8 UP is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Full-Time Bookkeeper to join our non-profit organization. The Bookkeeper will manage the financial records, maintain accurate accounts, and assist with reporting to ensure financial transparency and compliance. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience in the non-profit sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage Financial Records: Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices, donations, and payments. Monitor accounts payable and receivable and ensure timely processing. Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and ensure consistency with financial records. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, the board of directors, and external stakeholders as needed. Budget Assistance: Assist in the preparation of budgets and track budget performance throughout the fiscal year. Payroll: Support payroll processing, including tracking employee hours and ensuring accurate wage distribution. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards for non-profit organizations. Record Keeping: Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions, including receipts, invoices, and bank statements. Audit Preparation: Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries. Other Duties: Assist with any additional financial tasks as required by the Executive Director or Finance Manager.
Qualifications:

Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in a non-profit organization. Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations for non-profits. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge of payroll systems and basic tax regulations is a plus. Strong work ethic and a genuine desire to understand the organization's overall purpose. Is skilled and invested in developing processes and specific accounting practices and functions to reduce risk and ensure compliance in fiduciary responsibility at all levels. Promotes financial literacy for leadership and board, builds understanding, and above all, has a strong desire to help the organization succeed. Is a problem solver, analytical thinker, and a "do-er." Easy to work with, contribute positive energy to the office, and have the ability to work both in and out of the office effectively and efficiently.
Education and Experience:

Associate's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5 years' experience in bookkeeping with small to mid-size businesses and/ or non-profit entities. Previous experience in a similar bookkeeping role is a plus.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
