X-Copper Professional Corporation, a premier law firm with over 20 years of experience in the legal community, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our our Markham location (Head Office). With more than 18 branches across Ontario and Alberta and a commitment to continued growth, we offer a dynamic and supportive environment for our team.

Role Overview:

The Bookkeeper reports directly to the Financial Controller and is responsible for applying advanced, hands-on accounting and bookkeeping knowledge to support X-Copper's financial operations. The position requires strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to manage financial data confidentially. The role involves working independently, meeting established deadlines, and maintaining orderly and reliable financial systems.

Responsibilities:



Manage day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and journal entries. Perform accurate and timely monthly bank and credit card reconciliations. Maintain and reconcile trust accounts in compliance with all regulatory and internal control requirements. Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow summaries. Oversee vendor management, billing, and collections processes. Support year-end closing activities and work with external accountants or auditors. Ensure all financial data is organized, secure, and up to date. Other duties as required

Qualifications & Skills:



Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping. Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online. Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Desktop. Proven experience completing monthly bank reconciliations. Previous experience working with trust accounts (e.g., legal, real estate, or client trust funds). Strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices. High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality. Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications



Experience in a professional services environment (e.g., legal, financial, real estate) is a plus. Familiarity with additional accounting software or tools.
