The Copper Penny is a Kingston landmark, known for great food, exceptional service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We're looking for a detail-oriented and motivated professional to join our team as a Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant to support our operations behind the scenes.
Position Summary
Reporting to the General Manager, this role is responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including preparing weekly payable, issuing cheques to vendors, and ensuring accurate financial record-keeping. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and has proven experience in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare a weekly payable list and issue cheques to vendors
Maintain vendor files and records; Input and process invoices
Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies
Assist with monthly financial reporting and account balancing
Track and organize expenses, receipts, and supporting documentation
Support payroll preparation and other financial processes as needed
Maintain confidentiality of financial and business information
Other administrative duties as required to support restaurant operations
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Diploma or coursework in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
