What You Will Do
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting functions. This role plays a key part in financial accuracy and compliance while supporting business operations through effective bookkeeping.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Records*
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Xero
Accounts Payable (AP)*
Process vendor invoices, verify purchase orders, match receipts, schedule payments using Xero and Plooto
Accounts Receivable (AR)*
Create customer invoices, track payments, and issue statements
Bank & Credit Card Reconciliation*
Match bank and credit card statements to internal records monthly in Xero
General Ledger (GL) Maintenance*
Record journal entries and maintain chart of accounts
GST/HST & PST Remittances*
File government tax returns using CRA My Business Account and eTaxBC
Expense Management*
Track and organize expense receipts through Dext
Financial Reporting*
Produce monthly financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Year-End Preparation*
Prepare reconciled books and schedules for CPA/accountant
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 5-10 years of bookkeeping experience in Canada (required)
Proficiency with Xero, Plooto, and Dext
Strong understanding of AP/AR and accounting entries
Knowledge of GST/HST and PST remittances in Canada
Excellent accuracy, organization, and time management
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable Assets
Experience in construction or project-based bookkeeping
Familiarity with job costing
Experience working with vendors and contractors
Knowledge of basic financial reporting
Working Conditions
On-site position based in Kamloops, BC
Monday to Friday work schedule
Collaborative office environment
Must maintain confidentiality of company financial information
May require occasional extended hours during month-end and year-end reporting
