Position Overview

The Bookkeeper / Accountant will oversee all accounting and administrative functions related to the store's finances. This includes maintaining records, managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing reconciliations, assisting with payroll, and ensuring compliance with federal and provincial tax requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Record daily sales, purchases, and bank transactions using accounting software (Quickbooks) Prepare monthly financial statements, trial balance, and cash flow summaries. Manage accounts payable and receivable; reconcile vendor invoices and payments. Oversee payroll preparation and related government remittances (GST, source deductions, WCB, etc.). Maintain general ledger accuracy and supporting documentation. Assist management in budget preparation and financial analysis. Coordinate with external accountants for year-end filings and audits. Ensure compliance with CRA regulations and internal financial controls.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 2-4 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (retail or grocery experience preferred). Proficiency with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of GST, payroll, and bank reconciliation. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. CPA designation or working toward one is an asset but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

Schedule

Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend or month-end work as needed.
