About the Opportunity

The Accommodation Booking Officer is responsible to coordinate accommodation requests for patients travelling to the QE2 for care from other locations within the province, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. The Accommodation Booking Officer is the first point of contact for service provider, patients and family members regarding reservations and concerns. The incumbent receives, reviews and coordinates accommodations requests from different sources, then places the reservation with the accommodation provider ensuring the needs of the patients are identified and addressed while keeping within the contract requirements and criteria for coverage. Adhere to set criteria for accommodation coverage and responsible to bring forward requests from clinical teams for special circumstance requests to the manager for approval.

This position will be required to work overtime hours to support emergency requests and liaise with providers to trouble issues related to reservation requests.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 plus completion of a one-to-two year program in business administration required
  • 2 years previous related job experience required
  • Experience in coordinating activities
  • Excellent communication skills in dealing with people at all levels of the organization and comfort working with various stakeholders
  • Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Medical Terminology
  • STAR patient registration
  • Superior organization and time management skills to prioritize and complete assignments
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and rapport-building skills
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Knowledge of the health system with high level understanding of the health care system in NS
  • Sound knowledge and skill working in an interdisciplinary setting
  • Demonstrated high degree of independent decision making, self-direction, motivation
  • Strong analytical and math skills for invoice reconciliation
  • Required to carry a cell phone 24/7 to discuss urgent patient accommodations
  • Employees are responsible to access training, education, and awareness of occupational health safety and patient safety annually
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
