The Blast Booth Operator uses blast booth equipment to remove excess metal and unwanted materials from metal parts prior to fabrication.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Read and interpret work orders
- Operate blast booth equipment including wheelabrator, deburrer and shotblaster to remove excess welds, rust, scale and other material from surfaces of metal parts, castings and other metal products
- May polish metal products to mirror finish
- May immerse metal products in cleaning solutions
- Transport raw materials and finished metal products manually or using hoists or other devices
- Clean work areas and equipment
- Completion of high school
- At least 4 years related experience
- Read instructions or diagrams
- Ensure safety procedures are observed
- Physically demanding
- Manual dexterity
- Attention to detail
- Standing for extended periods
- Bending, crouching, kneeling
- Legal status to work in Canada is required.
