As a Blaster, you will conduct surface production blasting operations while adhering to Dyno Nobel and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will have the responsibility of conducting blasting operations in a safe and efficient manner.

What You’ll Do Dyno Nobel Canada Inc. has an immediate opening for a Blasters Helper. This opportunity would be ideal for someone who is interested in long-term professional growth in the field of Drilling & Blasting.
The candidates’ primary function will be to assist the Blaster in Charge and Blast Crew during drilling, loading, and blasting operations. This is a full-time position with the possibility of either reduced hours or a seasonal layoff during the slow season. Primary responsibilities will include:

• Provide manual labor support on the blast site including loading blast holes and shoveling crushed stone or carrying buckets of crushed to blast holes
• Assist the Blaster in Charge to safely serving the customer
• Complete necessary paperwork including daily safety checks, bills of lading for transporting dangerous goods, logbook, pre & post-trip inspections
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain safe working conditions in the shop, while operating mobile equipment, and while on blast sites to protect personal safety and the safety of others
• This position is a "Fly in - Fly out" opportunity on a 14 x 14 day rotation. Flights and travel are paid.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum high school diploma; or equivalent

• Provincial Blasting License (Level 1); or ability to obtain
• 0 - 3 years of working experience
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good work habits; punctual, team player, respectful
• Prior manual labor or construction experience preferred
• Good physical condition is required with the ability to repeatedly lift/handle 25kg units
• Class 5 Driver’s License, with clean abstract
• Work Shifts that change due to the demand for customer deliveries and area management requirements
• Complete online learning/training as required
• Ability to wear and care for applicable personal protective equipment including but not limited to; safety glasses, safety boots, half-face respirator, hard hat, hearing protection, fall protection harness
• Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
• Must possess PAL or pass background screening for unsupervised access to explosives
• Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
