Hopcott Farms is a third-generation family-owned and operated farm, butcher shop, bistro, and wedding venue. We specialize in raising our own beef without hormones, steroids, or antibiotics, focusing on local and farm-to-table practices.
The Bistro Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a bistro, including managing staff, ensuring quality service and food preparation, and maintaining a positive dining experience.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
Expediting food from Back of House and ensuring food quality is up to standard. Following up with Head Chef/Kitchen Supervisor if there are quality issues.
Assist in the hiring of new Bistro employees
Assist the Kitchen Manager with food costing for the Bistro
Assist the Kitchen Manager with performance review for all Bistro employees
Lead training of new employees, as well as the continuous training of existing staff.
Develop strategies for improving our customers' dining experience.
Respond to customercomplaints quickly and resolve them effectively.
Assist with ordering & identify methods our restaurant can use to cut waste, decrease costs, and improve profits
Motivate the staff and demonstrate superior customer service skills, serving & assisting customers promptly and efficiently, informing patrons about menu items, specials, events, and products or services
Bistro Responsibilities:
Making coffee / Grilling Paninis / Serving Soups & Chilis
Running till & paging customers when orders are ready.
Ensuring the Bistro is fully stocked and can always meet the menu, notifying the Bistro Manager or General Manager of any shortages.
Answering Phones & taking to-go orders in a timely and friendly manner.
Production of sandwiches and paninis, ensuring food safety & quality standards are being met.
General Cleanup throughout day and end of day
Dishes / Clearing & Cleaning Tables / Organizing Eating Area/Patio Area
Assisting & Assigning with Various baking tasks i.e., Cookies, Scones, Cornbread.
Opening & Closing Bistro/Patio
Preparing bistro sitting areas for the day of service, wiping down all tables & checking for general cleanliness.
Cleaning and stocking bistro/service area, making sure we are ready for opening.
Changing Garbage's, bringing dishes inside, Opening/Closing Umbrellas.
Checking & maintaining customer washrooms.
Be knowledgeable about the history of the farm and our sustainability practices. Be familiar with our products, including the meat, grocery and produce departments.
Position Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a supervisory role within the restaurant or food services industry
Food Safe Level 1 certification
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel would be an asset
Ability to multi-task in a busy fast-changing environment.
Must know when to ask for help when needed and be able to take direction.
Be proactive in adverse situations, ex - busy times and unhappy customers.
Must be able to physically thrive in a demanding & high-volume environment.

Must be able to work weekends (shifts for this role would generally be Tuesday to Saturday)
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Working in cool retail environment
Working in refrigerated/freezer areas and with hot/cold water.
Working with sharp knives, cutting tools and deli slicer.
Must be able to do some medium duty lifting - 50lbs.
Must be able to be active on feet for your full 8.5-hour shift.
Job requires bending and crouching.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
