Your Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a biostatistician to provide advanced biostatistical expertise to researchers, research and operational projects for related to cancer. Our goal is to be a leader in cancer diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care, all on a foundation of world-class research. You will work with clinicians and researchers on a variety of projects. The position is imbedded in a team of analysts, senior analysts, programmer and epidemiologist, who work collaboratively on developing and providing analysis and evidence to drive improvements in surveillance, treatment, outcomes, and research to reduce the burden of cancer for Albertans. This is a leadership position within Cancer Advanced Analytics, Cancer Research & Analytics, Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) team.

Description:

As a biostatistician, you will provide advanced biostatistical expertise to researchers, research & operational projects and CCA leadership. You will lead and provide expertise on new scientific methodologies. You will use your knowledge of statistics to collaborate with researchers, develop guidelines/parameters for data gathering and conduct and oversee the analysis and interpretation of statistical data arising from cancer surveillance and related analytics. In this role, you will rely on your in-depth knowledge and experience to perform a range of biostatistical analysis, inferential statistical analyses and/or modeling activities to support and lead research, planning and surveillance projects. You will work with leaders, clinicians, provincial and national experts and internal and external researchers to help develop questions and address problems in the delivery for cancer treatment/care. The role will support investigator initiated clinical trials, sample size estimations and provide mentorship to new analyst and clinical practicum student projects. The incumbent will determine the variables and measures required to address these issues, will devise analytic plans, will conduct and/or oversee appropriate analysis, and will provide a scientific interpretation of the results. In addition, you will provide supervision and mentorship to analysts, and will serve as an expert resource to address statistical and technical questions posed by analysts, researchers, clinicians and leaders. You will recommend best practice in the development, application, and use of statistical and biostatistical tools to strengthen and support CCA and Cancer Advanced Analytics projects. You will make recommendations with broad implications and influence on evidence-based changes to the delivery of cancer services and planning cancer services.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of PhD in Statistics or Biostatistics. Minimum of 2 years as a biostatistician or related experience. Master\'s degree in Statistics or Biostatistics with 5 years of applicable experience will be considered. Extensive knowledge of statistical theory and application. Experience with statistical analyses of complex and large datasets including advanced multivariate and longitudinal modeling. Experience with population-based data. Experience with Sample size estimation, clinical trials and mentorship. Advanced expertise with statistical computing in SAS and R. Proven statistical computing skills. Experience working with administrative data bases and sources. Experience in a consultation/instruction role. Biostatistical consulting experience. Please enter information in this field.
Additional Required Qualifications:

Organized, resourceful and self-starting, with meticulous attention to detail. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to use sound judgment and diplomacy while interacting with staff and clients.
Preferred Qualifications:

5 years of experience in health data, preferably administrative data. P.Stat. or A.Stat. Designation with the Statistical Society of Canada. Experience in oncology. Experience with the application of machine learning using in health care.
