To provide service, training and establish a preventative maintenance program for patient-applied medical devices.
DUTIES:
1. Perform medical equipment pre-acceptance checks and incoming inspections.
2. Test electro-medical equipment for performance assurance and ensure proper functioning.
3. Provide clinical training of electro-medical equipment to staff, as required.
4. Evaluate the capabilities of electro-medical equipment and provide advice as to whether new equipment should be purchased.
5. Perform preventive maintenance and quality assurance procedures on medical equipment to ensure proper functionality and patient safety.
6. Troubleshoot and repair applied medical equipment.
7. Manage the life cycle of medical equipment and maintain service records utilizing CMMS software.
8. Liaise with manufacturers and vendors for equipment servicing and spare part information.
9. Function as a professional role model demonstrating good interpersonal skills and a commitment to self-growth and development.
10. Maintain current knowledge of best practices and benchmarks for the delivery of services, appropriate research, literature, accreditation requirements, policy and legislative requirements and implement improvements/changes as appropriate.
11. Comply with organizational policies, procedures and standards.
12. Participate in on call rotation to provide support services after hours and on weekends.
13. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of a recognized Biomedical Engineering program or equivalent education and experience - Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast paced environment in stressful situations.
Customer service, interpersonal and telephone skills.
Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment.
Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Ability to organize time effectively to perform the duties of the position.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner.

Knowledge of Relevant CSA and IEC standards.
Knowledge of evidence based treatment modalities
Knowledge of relevant legislation - Health Canada requirements for medical device licensing.
