Overview


A Biomedical Service Technician installs, maintains, repairs, and calibrates medical equipment to ensure patient safety and proper function within healthcare facilities. Key responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures, conducting safety tests, training medical personnel on equipment use, and maintaining detailed records of all service activities. Qualifications include a diploma in biomedical technology or a related field, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and proficiency with technical documentation and computer systems. The Biomedical Service Technician also serves as a brand ambassador for the organization. They are the human face of the company, building personal, relatable connections with clinical staff and other customers. In addition to technical expertise, the technician's primary objective is to drive customer satisfaction and patient safety by delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:



Installation & Testing:

Install, test, and perform initial performance checks on new medical equipment.

Maintenance:

Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on all types of medical equipment.

Troubleshooting & Repair:

Diagnose and repair malfunctions in complex medical equipment.

Calibration:

Calibrate medical devices to ensure accuracy and proper operation.

Safety:

Perform safety checks and tests on medical equipment to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and service activities.

Training:

Train doctors, nurses, and other medical staff on the proper use and care of equipment.

Inventory Management:

Order and maintain a stock of spare parts and necessary supplies for equipment maintenance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:



Valid drivers licence, valid passport, and reliable transportation:



Ability to travel to client's sites across the province and to manufacturing sites (could be outside of Canada) for factory training.



Education:



A diploma or degree in Biomedical Technology or a related field, such as Biomedical Engineering Technology.

Technical Skills:



Proficiency in reading schematic diagrams and interpreting technical manuals for effective repairs and maintenance. Exceptional verbal and written communication.

Problem-Solving:



Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and determine solutions.

Computer Proficiency:



Working knowledge of computer systems and software, including the Microsoft Office Suite.

Soft Skills:



Good organizational skills, careful and methodical work habits, and good hand-eye coordination.

Operational Flexibility:



Ability to adapt to sudden and unpredictable needs in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Work Environment:



Biomedical technicians work in our service center, hospitals, clinics, and laboratories. They may need to wear protective clothing and handle potentially hazardous materials. Travel is required, and technicians may be on-call for emergencies.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
