Description :
The Montréal West Island IUHSSC is currently seeking a Biomedical Engineering Technician to fill a full time replacement, with the possibility of short term permanence, at the Lakeshore Hospital within its Information Resources and Biomedical Engineering Branch.

As a Biomedical Engineering Technician, your daily tasks will be primarily the planning, installation, maintenance, repair and support of various medical equipment that comes into contact with users.

Under the authority of the Biomedical Engineering Manager, you will ensure the safety of medical equipment while respecting the manufacturers' specifications as well as the standards established by the various professional orders and control organizations. You will advise healthcare providers and patients on the safe use of equipment. By keeping your knowledge of medical equipment up to date, you will be called upon to make the necessary recommendations for their proper operation. You will collaborate with the engineers and biomedical physicists by participating in various activities such as equipment acquisition, investigation of technology-related incidents, technological obsolescence studies, training and research and development.

As a Biomedical Engineering Technician, your duties will require you to:

  • Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, repair, calibration and maintenance of biomedical electronic equipment;
  • Suggest the necessary recommendations for their proper functioning, including their safety aspect;
  • Perform similar tasks on industrial electronic equipment;
  • Cover all the needs of the establishment's services.

Requirements :
Availability requested:

  • 38.75 hours per week, Monday through Friday;
  • Schedule: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m;
  • On-call availability: flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

The desired candidate:

  • Must have one of the following college diplomas (DEC) (or equivalent): Electronics Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology and Computer Systems Technology;
  • Must be able to relate to both French and English speaking customers;
  • Is open to travel for training (2 to 3 weeks), even outside the province and the country;
  • Is open to working in other IUHSSC MWI sites occasionally;
  • Has a minimum of one (1) year experience in medical equipment repair and maintenance or equivalent, an asset;
  • Holds a certificate in biomedical technologies, an asset;
  • Has experience with medical imaging equipment, an asset.
