With this grant, scientists at the UofA are building capacity in pandemic preparedness. Infrastructure development includes a new cryogenic-Electron Microscope (cryo-EM) platform, upgrades of the Containment Level 3 (CL3) facility as well as fill-finish capabilities for GMP manufacturing at the Alberta Cell Therapy Manufacturing (ACTM) facility. Research activities within SPP-ARC aim to establish capabilities to enable rapid responses to emerging threats, with emphasis on the development of vaccines and small molecule antivirals.PositionReporting to the SPP-ARC Director, the Bioinformatics Systems Analyst is a new position intended to support this program through administration, coordination, and implementation of computational needs. The Bioinformatics Systems Analyst\'s primary responsibility is developing methods and tools to manage and understand large and complex biological datasets. The individual is also responsible for administrating computer systems, maintaining software and accessories, updating the website, building, organizing, and maintaining databases, and developing computer programs and software to address computational needs of SPP-ARC members.Duties
