You will actively support First Nations in promoting their knowledge and expertise on Atlantic salmon, thereby contributing to the recovery of the species.
You will create and facilitate a sharing community bringing together First Nations experts, promoting the integration of the "Two-Eyed Seeing" approach, particularly at scientific events where Indigenous knowledge would benefit from being better represented.
You will also develop a toolkit dedicated to First Nations to strengthen their autonomy in acquiring knowledge and monitoring Atlantic salmon populations.
Main responsibilities

Identify the key features of the project by analyzing the needs and interests of First Nations, focusing on community priorities, anticipating risks, and capitalizing on opportunities.
Actively participate in drafting project proposals and funding applications.
Carry out the project and ensure the progress of activities by developing tools and following up with partners (such as meetings, events, etc.)
Develop a detailed work plan and schedule, and ensure compliance by optimizing the use of available resources and monitoring costs, in accordance with established procedures
Write regular reports on the progress of the project, presenting the results obtained and ensuring effective follow-up once the project is completed
Ensure high-quality work at all times, focused on achieving the results expected by our First Nations partners
Monitor information throughout the project
Do you have what it takes?

5 years of relevant experience and/or a combination of college or university education in one or more of the following fields: aquatic ecology, project management, habitat restoration, etc.
Be available to travel to communities throughout Quebec and Labrador for approximately 4 to 8 weeks per year
Very good oral and written communication skills in French and English
Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license
Experience working with an Indigenous or First Nations organization (major asset)
Knowledge of First Nations issues, priorities, perspectives, and aspirations related to Atlantic salmon (asset)
Knowledge of an Indigenous language (asset)
