The Medical Physics Department provides scientific and technical support for the Radiation Treatment Program. This includes treatment and imaging equipment maintenance, quality assurance, design and fabrication of specialized devices for therapy, dose measurement and calculation, radiation safety, and the development and implementation of new and improved radiation treatment techniques. The department participates in formal education programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels, and conducts research on novel methods of cancer diagnosis and therapy.
Qualifications
1. Graduate of an accredited Post Secondary program in Electronics Engineering Technology
2. Membership or eligibility for membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)
3. Experience working with linear accelerators and diagnostic imaging x-ray machines would be an asset
4. Knowledge of safety regulations/issues with respect to radiation generating equipment would be an asset
5. Familiarity with complex systems; including control, servo-electronics, high-voltage, vacuum and microwave systems
6. Demonstrated excellence in trouble-shooting electronic/electrical system failures
7. Demonstrated excellence of workmanship and attention to detail
8. Strong interpersonal skills
9. Demonstrated initiative, innovation, and creativity skills
10. Able to work occasional extended hours and weekends on short notice
