About the Role:

Provide comprehensive financial planning advice to high net worth HSBC clients, including retirement and education planning, estate, trust and intergenerational wealth transfer planning, business transition planning, and philanthropic planning.

Strengthen the client\xe2\x80\x99s relationship and develop business by providing the private client with needs-driven wealth planning solutions, potentially involving multiple jurisdictions.

Work with advisors in Private Investment Counsel, Premier Top Tier segment, Commercial and Business Banking as well as throughout the retail branch network to develop and market HSBC Wealth Management services, and will also develop relationships with outside professionals and COIs with the objective of gaining recognition and market share in the wealth management and planning field.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve assigned new business asset and revenue targets by gaining a deep understanding of the financial situation and needs of high-net-worth HSBC clients, and offering relevant advice and solutions that lead to the client choosing HSBC for more of their business.
  • Work with high net worth clients and their advisors to design and establish effective wealth management and succession planning strategies including estate administration, trusts, foundations/donor-advised funds, discretionary investment management, direct brokerage accounts, insurance and other wealth structuring vehicles.
  • Provide sophisticated estate planning advice to most valued high net worth clients, working closely with the client\xe2\x80\x99s other professional advisors.
  • Take ownership of strategic planning and profitability.
  • Retain and expand client relationships through the referral of products and services to increase revenues; attract new assets and loans, cross-sell other company products and provide referrals to other areas of the company and approved third party providers as appropriate.
  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets
  • Train and motivate bankers (Premier, Private Investment Counsel, and Commercial) on all aspects of HSBC Wealth Management services.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
  • Ensure compliance of both general and anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing (AML/ATF) compliance controls as well as operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.

Requirements
  • Proven and progressive experience in financial and estate planning, ideally with high net worth clients. International planning experience an asset.
  • F.PL designation from the IQPF is required. Minimum of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Law, Finance or Business and additional professional qualifications preferred. TEP designation is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of a broad spectrum of financial planning issues of high-net worth individuals and families and appropriate solutions and applications.
  • Good knowledge of trusts, investments, insurance, taxation, business transition planning, philanthropy and banking.
  • Knowledge of investments, with ability to differentiate among various providers.
  • Must possess effective influence, presentation, inter-personal and analytical skills; the highest level of both written and oral communication is essential.
  • A focus on customer service excellence is a must; sensitivity and empathy is a prerequisite.
  • The ability to speak/understand French is a requirement.
  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively within a team environment.
