Job Description


Robert Half is looking for a bilingual Payroll Administrator to join an Owner managed organization located in the Ottawa region. This is a full-time/permanent position on site.

Responsibilities:

-Process weekly payroll for Ontario, Quebec & New Brunswick

-Verify and prepare all information from employee timecards and punch clock systems

-Enter data in payroll computer system and process all required documentation for various employment actions, such as termination pay, vacation pay, change in employment status

-Verify input and output documents to ensure payroll accuracy

-Administer commission equalization payments based on report from Assistant Controller

-Keep records of scheduled pay increments in accordance with the collective agreement or the non-union pay scale

-Calculate and implement pay scale increases in a timely manner and communicate to respective employee\'s manager/supervisor

-Confirm and get approval for salary/pay changes with manager and supervisors

-Advise employees and managers of changes in pay deductions such as change in benefits premiums, pension contributions and statutory government deductions

-Prepare various reports and statistics for management as and when requested, such as probationary reports

-Maintain Seniority List as per Collective Agreement

-Collection and reporting of union dues

-Administer and balance remittances for EHT, WSIB, Pension, Benefits, Garnishments Provide support and respond to employees\' questions and concerns regarding payroll and benefit issues

-Provide employment verification letters

-Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance to all rules; regulations, provincial employment legislation and policies

-Reconcile payroll on a monthly basis

-Order & maintain inventory of office & kitchen supplies

Requirements

Qualifications:

-College or University degree in a field related to accounting and/or finance or equivalence

-Canadian Payroll Association accreditation, or equivalence would be an asset

-Three plus (3+) years performing all payroll functions, using ADP Workforce Now

-Good working knowledge and understanding of payroll and employment legislation including the ability to interpret relevant payroll clauses in collective agreements

-Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system

-Excellent computer skills using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

-Good interpersonal skills and communication skills, able to simplify complex information when explaining payroll related issues - ability to liaise at all levels

-Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion

-Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
