The Bilingual Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Coordinator will support all nursing homes across New Brunswick by developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs. This role ensures compliance with provincial regulations and promotes a culture of safety throughout the long-term care sector.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with nursing homes across New Brunswick to assess and improve OH practices to foster a culture of safety.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of training materials.
Conduct safety audits and inspections at multiple facilities
Develop standardized safety protocols and training materials for province-wide use
Provide guidance and support on incident investigations and corrective actions
Guide members in developing safety policies and procedures.
Coordinate and deliver OH&S training sessions in both English and French.
Maintain records and prepare reports related to workplace safety.
Ensure compliance with New Brunswick OH&S legislation and healthcare standards.
Design and develop bilingual training curriculum tailored to long-term care environments.
Create engaging safety-related content including manuals, e-learning modules, and visual aids.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is preferred;however, candidates with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an OH&S role will also be considered.
Nursing, and/or occupational therapy background and/or certification in OH&S (e.g.,CRSP, CHSC) is an asset.
Preference 2 years of experience in a healthcare or similar environment.
Strong knowledge of New Brunswick OH&S legislation.
Excellent communication and training skills in both English and French.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training programs using adult learning principles.
Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel extensively.
Language Requirements
This position requires fluency in both English and French. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in both official languages.
Working Conditions
Full-time position
Salary range $75,000 - $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications
3 wks paid holidays
Permanent office space is available at the head office in Fredericton. Flexibility for remote work with no funding for home office setup.
Occasional (very rarely) evening work for training sessions
Up to $50/month for cellphone or work cell phone provided
Administrative support for scheduling, training material procurement and delivery and other administrative duties.
Laptop, training equipment and regular office supplies
