We are hiring Bilingual Health and Wellness Advisor in our integrated disability management (IDM) team for our Calgary or Fort McMurray office. If you have strong communication and prioritization skills, we want to hear from you!You will be responsible for supporting employees and managing employee short-term disability (STD) benefit claims in a timely and efficient manner. You will complete your work in accordance with company best practices and regulatory requirements. You will exercise ethical and professional judgment in determining the appropriate collection, use and disclosure of personal health information.Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in human sciences, kinesiology, physiotherapy, nursing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of claims and / or disability management experience
  • Basic knowledge of workers compensation legislation, policies, and procedures, STD plans and long-term disability contracts across Canada
  • Proficiency with typing and use of computers, including software such as Microsoft Office Suite
Responsibilities:
  • Review employee disability claims utilizing both medical and non-medical information
  • Analyze the information on file and determine if the absence from work is medically supported under the IDM program requirements
  • Collect information and consult with stakeholders/varying third party providers to receive input during the course of the disability duration
  • Assess employee fitness to work within the IDM program and communicate restrictions and limitations as required to aid in safe return to work
  • Develop transitional return to work plans to facilitate safe, timely and sustainable returns
  • Educate and inform key stakeholders on the requirements of the IDM program, including roles, responsibilities, expectations, and consequences
  • Manage workers compensation claims according to legislation and policies
  • Maintain up to date and accurate electronic documentation and internal records
  • Exercise ethical and professional judgment in determining the appropriate collection, use and disclosure of personal health information, working closely with our privacy officer, human resources, labor relations and legal counsel
  • Monitor and manage employees following an injury or illness to ensure abilities to perform job functions safely
Location and other Key Details:
  • This is an office based position, you will work out of a Syncrude location in Fort McMurray OR our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 xe2x80x93 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Occasional travel to site may be required
