Bilingual Estimator

Job Description


Aplin has partnered with a leader in Canadian construction to hire a Bilingual Estimator to join their growing team. Reporting to the Estimator Manager, you will lead projects in tendering processes, project planning, cost estimation, and client engagement within the industrial construction sector. This position is available in Mississauga, Ottawa, Montreal, or New Brunswick.Responsibilities:

  • Manage the tendering process for industrial construction projects, ensuring accurate and complete submissions.
  • Review project documents to define scope, requirements, and risks.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications for projects up to ~$1B.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs and create detailed cost estimates.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Assess scope changes, costs, and claims, providing recommendations.
  • Monitor project progress, address risks, and update management.
  • Present proposals and estimates to internal teams and clients.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Promote teamwork and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Help develop and improve standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Lead and mentor estimators, providing guidance and support.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial construction estimating and project management.
  • Fluent in English and French is a must.
  • Strong understanding of industrial construction processes, materials, and methods.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Sage Estimating) and MS Office suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively - interact with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate and reliable results.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and client offices as required.
