What you will be doing...
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Employee and Labour Relations, the Advisor provides operational advice and guidance to managers and employees on employee and labour relations matters. This role ensures consistent and compliant application of policies, collective agreements, and employment legislation while supporting investigations, grievances, accommodations, and other case management processes.
Some of your responsibilities include...
Provide advice to managers and employees on HR policies, collective agreements, and employment legislation
Support performance management by helping managers implement improvement plans and consistent corrective actions
Guide managers and employees on sensitive cases, such as workplace harassment, medical accommodations, and substance abuse case management
Conduct complex workplace investigations, including harassment, sexual harassment, violence, and other concerns, and prepare case documentation
Assist with the grievance process by conducting research, preparing documentation, and supporting arbitration preparation
Work collaboratively with union representatives to resolve issues early, assist in grievance preparation, and contribute to collective bargaining proposals
Support managers with sensitive employment actions, including disciplinary measures, terminations, and workforce adjustments, ensuring compliance and fairness
Prepare and coordinate organizational responses to Human Rights Tribunal, Ministry of Labour, and other external agencies on employment matters
Facilitate accommodations, return-to-work processes, and attendance management
Provide confidential counseling and employee referrals to EAP as needed
Maintain accurate case documentation and HR records
Contribute to the development and improvement of HR policies and processes
Support bargaining preparations by compiling costing, trend analysis, and documentation
Participate in committees, projects, and employee engagement initiatives

You have proven experience providing advice and guidance on employee and labour relations matters in unionized and non-unionized environments
You are skilled in investigations, grievance handling, and case management
You have strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
You handle sensitive situations with professionalism, maturity, and tact
You are collaborative and can build strong relationships with management, employees, and union representatives
You have excellent oral and written communication skills
You are proficient in Microsoft Office and HR information systems
Your must-haves:
Bilingualism (French/English) is required
Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field is preferred; a combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered
CHRP designation is preferred
Minimum 3 years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on employee and labour relations.
Knowledge of employment and labour legislation (e.g., Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, WSIB)
Experience in policy interpretation, case management, and providing HR advice
Secret level Security Clearance (or eligibility to obtain)
