Manulife\xe2\x80\x99s Wellness, Disability and Life Team is looking for Canadian Armed Forces Bilingual Disability Specialist for our Halifax office.
As a Bilingual Disability Specialist for the CAF long term disability plan, you will be required to support our plan members across Canada through illness, recovery and return to work by providing them with disability benefits and proactive case management focused on return to work. The role involves the ability to apply critical judgment when determining whether to issue disability payments, strong analytical skills when reading contractual wording and medical information, prioritizing and actioning tasks daily and a considerable amount of telephonic communication. This role is specific to the opportunity of working with military Veterans who have served our country and is often rewarding work.
This position is a technical role which is a resource to the case management staff in short term disability and long-term disability claims.
Responsibilities
Develop and monitor case management plans for disability claims by weighing multiple subjective variables
Train new staff at all levels
Coach and mentor Disability Case Managers
Handle contentious, complex claims (including all levels of appeals) and various projects
Participate in compiling and analyzing results for Quarterly Report
Participate in meetings with plan sponsors as required
Strengthen customer relationships

What we are looking for
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and in English
Minimum 3 years of Disability Claims experience
A University degree in Health Sciences, or related experience is an asset
In-depth knowledge of disability practices, procedures, and group benefits
In-depth knowledge of medical terminology/management/pharmacology
HIAA/ICA/LOMA designation or enrollment is an asset
Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with audiences
Experience in technical training and development of staff
Previous experience in organizing and facilitating project work
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Strong organizational skills and very detail oriented
Ability to meet demanding deadlines and work under pressure
Strong interpersonal skills

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location CAN, Nova Scotia - Full Time Remote
Salary range is expected to be between $52,650.00 CAD - $87,750.00 CAD
