Telecommunications Designer

Moncton, NB.

MOBIA is currently seeking a Telecommunications Designer to join our team in Moncton, NB.

Key Responsibilities:
The Telecommunications Designer is responsible for:

• Interpret data that has been collected from the field and as-built information to plan and determine the best fibre to the home design using industry and customer standards for single family and multi dwelling units.
• Prepare high level concept designs for both aerial and buried plant using fiber optic standards and methodology.
• Analysis of pole lines for required (conductor) spacing, separation, clearance and physical element strength under ice and wind loading, using CSA standards.
• Prepare various plans including cable, splicing, conduit plans etc.
• Ensure design drawings and calculation packages are completed by appropriate deadlines.
• Quality control for designs and drawings.
• Communicates with project manager / coordinator.
• Other duties as required.

Skills / Qualifications:

• A diploma as a Civil Engineering Technician, Architecture or related field would be an asset.
• Ability to read plans.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Experience working with AutoCAD and/or Visio Software.
• Ability manage work and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Understanding of municipal services, right of way, surveying would be an asset.
• Previous experience in telecom would be an asset.
• Previous experience working in municipal right of way or utilities experience is an asset.
• Familiar with GIS mapping tool would be an asset.
• Must be fluent in English and French.
