Nature & Scope of Position
The Technical Service Specialist provides technical service for medical equipment including installation, maintenance, repair, update/upgrade, warranty work and technical support for a variety of hospital-based equipment including but not limited to Laryngoscopes, Bladder scanners, Perfusion units, Infusion Pumps, Point of care devices, and Perfusion equipment.
General Duties & Responsibilities
Troubleshoot test and repair equipment with associated instrumentation.
Manage a base of customers within Canada to include telephone response and on-site technical support as needed.
Perform preventative maintenance and warranty work on existing field instrumentation.
Support the installation and training of customers.
Collaborate with colleagues to grow the existing knowledge base and share creative ideas for problem solving.
Maintain a spare parts inventory.
Coordinate and Manage service intake calls with customer and ensure prompt resolution.
Ensure proper response and maintenance over the Service mailbox.
Complete reports in a timely fashion and demonstrate fiscal responsibility with expenses.
Troubleshoot issues over the phone while providing exceptional customer support.
Knowledge, Experience & Education
Associates degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
3-5 years related experience
Ability to deal with various customers and overcome objections.
Exceptional verbal, written and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively with teams, work in a dynamic environment and quickly adapt to new corporate objectives.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Specialized Skills / Requirements
Valid drivers license
Travel across Canada up to 50% of time
Strong communication skills

Language Skills
Must be proficient in written & spoken English & French.
Technical Skills
Must have working knowledge/training of electronics with the ability to understand the operation and have manual skills required to repair, calibrate, perform safety, performance routine inspections on electronic, electrical, mechanical equipment, devices, systems and instruments.
Solid keyboarding and MS Suite skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.
Work Environment, Health & Safety
Time will be split between the Oakville Technical Service Center and with Hospital customers across Canada, not including trainings which may be international in nature
Position requires travelling up to 50% of the time; out of province travel be required
Travel by vehicle or air to customer locations which may involve occupational hazards associated with industrial work areas (i.e. hospitals, etc.).
Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity to use a keyboard, tools and test equipment
Employee will comply with all Health and Safety requirements.
Safety devices, such as glasses and earplugs must be worn as required.
Physical Demands
Physical requirements are standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs and extensive use of hands and mind
Ability to lift 50lbs
Due to the responsibilities of this position, other physical requirements include reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, legs, wrists and fingers.
Salary Range - $50K- $60K per year
