Overview

Avison Young\xe2\x80\x99s Data Architecture team is seeking a Global Lead of Business Intelligence (BI). The Global Lead will manage the team in developing strategic analytical products and services that advise real estate strategy and business operations. This role will have accountability for the development of tools to visualize proprietary and third-party data and have accountability for the management and operation of a technical service function to support client engagements and deliverables. Additionally, this leadership role is responsible for providing strategic guidance on Avison Young\xe2\x80\x99s adoption of BI technologies and the development of technology talent.

You will be entrusted to understand the client\xe2\x80\x99s business questions, design solutions that will answer the questions, predict the way the data will be shaped, and create analytic visualizations based on that data. Leveraging data processing tools connected to Snowflake, you will uncover actionable insights derived from understanding our client\xe2\x80\x99s data and gain an understanding of their business model, operations, strategy, and technology.

This role will be part of an ambitious team that is changing the way operational decisions are made. You will have a high-level of autonomy to work when and where you prefer, assuming you deliver per your engagement agreements with clients.

Responsibilities

• Direct and grow the Global Business Intelligence team through the recruitment, technical development, and retention of talent.
• Gather business requirements from clients and AY professionals and translate these requirements into concrete BI solutions.
• Organize, prioritize, and unblock development tasks for each project the BI team is working on. Provide support to BI team members and ensure on-time delivery of solutions.
• Partner with the Data Architecture team to support the ingestion and management of proprietary and third-party data for client-facing and internal deliverables.
• Develop and utilize automated processes to standardize data extraction and preparation for visualization through scripting.
• Drive innovation and best practices across all areas of the BI team \xe2\x80\x93 bring new ideas and thinking to the team and to internal processes and operations.
• Explore advancements in new technologies and software as applicable to business opportunities.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field required, or demonstrated equivalent experience
• Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field preferred

Experience & Technical Skills

• 8+ years in experience in Data Analysis and Visualization
• 5+ years in commercial real estate sector
• 2+ years people management experience
• Strong knowledge of analytic software including Tableau, PowerBI, and ThoughtSpot
• Experience with GIS mapping software including ESRI, QGIS, Carto or ArcGIS
• Experience with DataBricks, Alteryx, Airflow, DBT, or other ETL systems

Experience with connecting to and manipulating database relationships such as Snowflake
