The Division of Hematology at Queen's University is growing. We seek two Hematologists to expand our Benign Hematology Program, contributing to clinical care, research, and education and with opportunities for leadership. These are full time academic positions with competitive remuneration through the Southeastern Ontario Academic Medical Organization (SEAMO).The Division of Hematology is housed within the Department of Medicine, with close ties with the Department of Oncology. The Division is comprised of ten faculty members, supported by a strong allied health professional team, and benefits from excellent collaborative working relationships with the Departments of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, and Pediatrics. The group provides clinical care to a large catchment area of 500,000 people. Out-patient specialty clinics at Kingston Health Sciences Centre include bleeding disorders, thrombosis, and sickle cell disease and hemoglobinopathies. Regional care is provided in collaboration with excellent colleagues at community hospitals. There are thriving research programs in hemostasis, thrombosis, transfusion medicine, and clinical trials, alongside a highly successful Hematology residency training program.Applicants with a clinical focus in any part of benign or general hematology are warmly invited to apply. We are especially seeking hematologists interested in thrombosis, and red blood cell disorders. Training opportunities are available for early career hematologists or those considering expanding their scope of practice in these areas. The successful candidates will be supported and mentored in pursuing clinical research or quality improvement aligned with their interests.Applicants must demonstrate the ability to provide exemplary clinical service. In addition, the successful applicant would be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, engage in independent or collaborative research, and contribute to the administrative functions of the University and Hospitals. It is expected that candidates will exhibit a strong potential for innovative and scholarly research, as well as provide evidence of a robust academic portfolio with demonstrable teaching experience. Candidates must also demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent). Applicants must be eligible for licensure in Hematology by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification in Hematology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.Faculty and their dependents are eligible for an extensive benefits package including prescription drug coverage, vision care, dental care, long term disability insurance, life insurance and access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program.
