Job Description

The Benefits Administrator (Term) works in a team environment and is responsible for the ongoing administration of their client's health, welfare, and other administrative tasks in compliance with plan rules, legislative requirements, and internal practices.

The Benefits Administrator (Term) will:

Communicate and coordinate with members, employers, union representatives, and any other third-party representative regarding benefit entitlements, data, administration procedures, and interpretations of plan provisions. Maintain up-to-date records for members and clients. Perform data entry for employer hours and assist with month end procedures. Enter new member information data into the system. Provide relief for the Receptionist. Prepare administration reports, if applicable. Identify process improvements and work with the team to implement new procedures. Receive and respond to plan inquiries and requests from members received via telephone, mail, email, or other means. Collaborate with internal departments and leadership to ensure seamless communication and service delivery. Provide direct, professional support to Plan members, spouses, and beneficiaries regarding benefit entitlements and plan details. Participate in other duties and projects as assigned.

To be successful as a Benefits Administrator (Term) with McAteer, you will need:

Post-secondary education in Office Administration or a related field. Professional administrative experience in an office environment. Excellent and proven organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills. Excellent work ethic and accountability, as this position requires an individual with strong time management. Knowledge of Employee Benefits. Basic to Intermediate MS Excel skills (formatting, building/interpreting pension calculators, data analysis functions). Intermediate MS Word skills (formatting, word merge, mail merge, and conditional wording). French fluency would be considered an asset.
