This role involves working with diverse populations, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. The Behavioral Therapist will collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and educational teams to develop personalized treatment plans aimed at improving behavioral health outcomes. Experience in clinical counseling, crisis management, and behavior management is essential to deliver high-quality care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine behavioral health needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and art or dance therapy.
Implement behavior management strategies to support clients with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, PTSD, chronic pain, and other mental health conditions.
Engage in crisis intervention and crisis management to ensure client safety during acute episodes.
Maintain accurate medical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, social workers, educators, and medical professionals for comprehensive case management.
Participate in research activities related to behavioral health treatments and contribute to data collection efforts for clinical studies.
Utilize ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for diagnostic evaluation and medical records documentation.
Conduct intake assessments via telehealth or in-person visits to establish treatment goals.
Support clients through addiction counseling, grief counseling, gender issues counseling, or special education needs as required.
Stay current with developments in psychopharmacology and mental health counseling practices to enhance treatment efficacy.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Certification or licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent is highly desirable.
Proven experience working with children & family counseling, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or inpatient/outpatient mental health settings.
Knowledge of psychotherapeutic modalities including CBT, psychodynamic therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), art therapy, dance therapy, CPT coding, ICD coding/diagnosis standards.
Experience with crisis intervention techniques and crisis management protocols.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
Strong communication skills for patient care coordination and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including geriatrics and individuals with disabilities.
Telehealth experience is preferred but not required; willingness to adapt to various service delivery models is essential.
