Job Summary:




Urgent response services (URS) is an exciting service offered within the OAP. They are time-limited services developed to provide a rapid response to a specific, identified need to prevent further escalation or risk of harm to the child or youth, other people or property. We are looking for technicians who will contribute to the guiding framework of URS; Respond, Stabilize, Prepare and Repair. Services may include a short-term consultation with an interdisciplinary team that can include intervention specialists, family members and educators; behavioural consultation for time-limited respite support; identifying additional services within and outside of the Ontario Autism Program; and direct support for families and/or professionals who work with the child to implement personalized behaviour interventions or therapy techniques. Kinark will deliver URS as part of the York Simcoe Autism Network (YSAN).

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):




Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team to meet client/program outcomes. Under the supervision of the URS Behaviour Consultant assist in designing and ensuring implementation and monitoring of skill promotion and behaviour intervention programs. Assist the Behaviour Consultant in developing and implementing training of mediators, individually or in a group setting on the principles and procedures of behaviour management. Assist the Behaviour Consultant in developing and implementing on-going education (workshops and seminars) to community agencies and parents. Assist with the completion of behavioural assessment procedures, treatment planning, data collection, program and report writing. Deliver individualized behaviour intervention in a variety of setting (I.e., home, community, centre). Remain updated on current literature regarding evidence-based practices. Risk identification and stabilization - Assess the nature and level of a child/youth's needs as well as strengths of the child/youth and family.




Qualifications:




Must have completed a degree in psychology or Applied Behaviour Analysis*
Experience working with children/youth with autism and mental health concerns as well as identifying/assessing risk factors to be addressed in a treatment plan. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment. Travel is required for this position, the successful incumbent must have a valid Ontario driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle. Some evening / weekend work may be required.
