Position: Residential/Developmental Care Worker (Full-time)
The Support Worker will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to residents in Beleva's Group Home. This includes personal care, behavior management, mental health support, and assistance with daily tasks such as meal preparation and housekeeping. The role also involves detailed documentation and ensuring the safety and comfort of clients. Strong multitasking skills and a positive attitude are essential. The ideal candidate will work closely with families and the team to develop person-centered care plans.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Personal Care Support:
- Assisting residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
- Providing mobility assistance, including lifting and transferring individuals as needed.
- Supporting residents with meal preparation and feeding if necessary.
2. Emotional and Behavioral Support:
- Establishing a supportive and trusting relationship with residents.
- Implementing individualized care plans that address emotional, behavioral, and social needs.
- Assisting residents in developing coping strategies and life skills.
- Monitoring and managing challenging behaviors, often using de-escalation techniques.
3. Health and Medication Management:
- Administering medications according to prescribed schedules and maintaining accurate records.
- Monitoring residents' health, noting any changes, and reporting them to healthcare professionals.
- Accompanying residents to medical appointments and ensuring follow-up care.
4. Daily Living Assistance:
- Helping residents with household tasks, including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a tidy living environment.
- Assisting residents with budgeting, shopping, and other day-to-day financial management tasks.
- Encouraging and facilitating participation in daily routines and activities to foster independence.
5. Social and Recreational Activities:
- Planning, organizing, and supervising recreational activities, both within the home and in the community.
- Encouraging social interaction among residents and promoting participation in community events.
- Supporting residents in pursuing hobbies, educational opportunities, and other personal interests.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of residents' progress, behaviors, and incidents.
- Completing daily logs, shift reports, and other required documentation.
- Ensuring all documentation is compliant with legal and organizational standards.
7. Safety and Crisis Management:
- Ensuring the physical safety of residents by maintaining a secure and hazard-free environment.
- Responding to emergencies, including medical crises, behavioral incidents, and other urgent situations.
- Following protocols for reporting and managing critical incidents.
8. Collaboration with Other Professionals:
- Working closely with healthcare providers, therapists, social workers, and other professionals involved in residents' care.
- Participating in team meetings to discuss residents' progress and coordinate care.
- Advocating for residents' needs and ensuring that their rights are respected.
9. Compliance with Policies and Procedures:
- Adhering to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulations, including those related to confidentiality and privacy.
- Participating in ongoing training and professional development to maintain and enhance skills.
- Upholding the ethical standards of care and promoting a positive, inclusive atmosphere in the group home.
