The Opportunity:



Working alongside speech language pathologists, occupational therapists and other therapy assistants, you will provide a range of comprehensive supports for young children with a variety of developmental needs. Be one of first therapists in the country - and the world! to learn the JASPER therapy approach (Joint Attention, Symbolic Play, Engagement, and Regulation: Kasari, Gulsrud, Shire & Strawbridge, 2021). Collaborate with your SLP, OT, and therapy assistant colleagues on a daily basis.

Role & Responsibilities



Nurture is seeking senior interventionists or therapy assistants with a degree in a related field (e.g. child development, psychology, speech science, kinesiology) who are passionate about providing play-based developmental therapy for children and compassionate support for families. This role is open to candidates with a range of backgrounds; however, you

must

have substantial experience working with young children with developmental differences.

Extensive mentorship and support will be provided for successful candidates including training in JASPER intervention methods (Kasari, Gulsrud, Shire & Strawbridge, 2021). This exciting, evidence-based approach is just now becoming more available. Nurture Interventionists will have the opportunity to be some of the first certified service providers west of Ontario! Undergraduate trained therapists work under the supervision of a master's level clinician (SLP/OT/BCBA).

Your responsibilities will include:

2 clinic-based days and 3 community-based days of therapy per week. Community based therapy is provided within the city of Vancouver. Sessions will include clinic based early intervention using the JASPER therapy approach (once trained), and home and community-based intervention supporting all areas of development and participating in activities of everyday living. Playdates or play groups.

Qualifications:



An undergraduate degree in a developmentally related field (psychology, speech science, early childhood development, etc.), and at least 2 years of work experience with young children with developmental differences. A playful, positive approach to interactions with children. A strong work ethic and a growth mindset with openness to constructive feedback. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. A strong desire to develop clinical skills and work collaboratively with a team. Transportation, a criminal record check, and current First Aid certification will be required for this position.

Working Arrangements and Remuneration



Nurture is a non-profit society operating on a fee-for-service basis. We are committed to ensuring that our therapists receive a competitive wage. The starting pay for new therapy assistants will depend on experience and training, and range from $27-30/hr with increases over time with experience and training at Nurture.

Undergraduate therapists will be paid a regular 37.5-hour work week with 3 weeks of paid vacation time and 3 weeks of sick time, statutory holidays, and addtional paid time off between Christmas and New Years.
