Barrantes & Associates Inc. is currently seeking dedicated Behaviour Associates who are committed to empowering clients within our Group Living programs.
Successful candidates will:
Hold a relevant diploma or degree.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality care, compassion, and professionalism.
Thrive within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Bring experience supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with dual diagnoses, developmental disabilities, and complex behaviours.
Follow Behaviour Support Plans (BSP) and Individual Support Plans (ISP) as directed by leadership.
Adhere to programming expectations and protocols set by supervisors.
Assist with meal preparation and housekeeping tasks during shifts.
Be familiar with behaviour skills training, teaching replacement behaviours, task analysis, prompt fading, and identifying behavioural functions.
Hold a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle for community-based duties.
Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.
Provide a valid, negative Vulnerable Sector Check.
Carry vehicle insurance with at least $2,000,000 in liability coverage and provide a current driver's abstract.
Have an up-to-date immunization record.
Core Responsibilities:
Build and maintain supportive, respectful relationships with clients in group living environments.
Advocate for each client's individual needs and goals.
Implement effective behaviour management strategies.
Foster a collaborative and empowering atmosphere that promotes client success.
Respond promptly and appropriately to crisis situations.
Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Communicate and collaborate with team members as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client and organizational information.
Physical Requirements:
Respond safely and effectively during situations involving elopement or escalation.
Be physically capable of walking, jogging, or moving quickly for short distances.
Support clients during interventions using Safe Management techniques.
Remain alert, mobile, and active (standing, walking, bending) for extended periods.
Assist with client care tasks, including lifting or guiding when needed.
Safely lift up to 50 lbs.
Education & Experience:
Associate I & II:
Completion of a recognized diploma or degree, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the social service field.
Associate I:
1-3 years of experience.
Associate II:
3+ years of experience.
Additional training in behaviour management or behaviour modification is considered an asset.
Safe Management Group certification is also considered an asset.
