Behaviour Aides / Respite Support Workers

to support children and youth with diverse needs. The role focuses on providing safe, respectful, and individualized care while promoting emotional regulation, positive behaviours, and overall wellbeing in respite and community environments.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and group support in respite, home, school, and community settings Implement behaviour support strategies in line with individual support plans Support emotional regulation, communication, and social engagement Maintain a calm, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming approach Assist with daily routines, transitions, and personal care as required Promote safety, dignity, and independence at all times Accurately document shift notes, incident reports, and progress observations Communicate professionally with families, supervisors, and multidisciplinary teams Follow organizational policies, duty of care, and ethical standards
Essential Requirements

Experience working with children or youth with behavioural, developmental, or additional needs Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations Strong communication and interpersonal skills Understanding of behaviour support, trauma-informed care, and positive behaviour approaches Valid First Aid & CPR certification Vulnerable Sector Check / Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain) Reliable transportation and flexibility with shifts
Preferred Qualifications

Education or training in Behavioural Support, Child & Youth Care, Disability Studies, Psychology, or related fields Experience in respite, autism support, or community services

Pay: $17.31-$20.00 per hour
