As a Behaviour Interventionist (BI) at Monarch House your primary responsibility is implementing programs designed and supervised by a senior clinical team (of speech pathologists, by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst\xc2\xae BCBAs, Occupational therapists and physical therapists) to clients receiving services from Monarch House. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and/or decrease maladaptive behaviors while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast paced and frequently changing environment. Responsible for implementing programs based on best practices.
Uses systematic methods and behavioural strategies to support client in changing their behaviour
Contributes to the development of programs established by the clinical team to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1 and/or small group setting
Understand the functions of behavior and responds appropriately and safely when situations arise
Adhere to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols
Ability to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine and provide creative solutions
Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client
Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating
Responsible for maintaining the well-being and safety
Here is what you will need to be successful
1-2 years experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities
Pursuing or completed education in Psychology, Speech or linguistics, occupational therapy or kinesiology.
Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 6 months
Ability to travel within the community
Strong verbal and written English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 1 year experience working in client homes is a plus
Enrollment in or degree from a post-secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or another related field is an asset
Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops an asset
Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities
