Position Overview

Tiny Hearts Childcare Centre is seeking a caring and responsible

Early Childhood Assistant

to support our licensed Before and After School program. The successful candidate will work alongside our team to provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for school-age children. This role is a

split shift

(morning and afternoon) and includes a

shift premium

in recognition of the schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Provide active supervision and quality care for school-age children before and after school hours.

Accompany and supervise children walking safely to and from school.

Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities that encourage children's social, emotional, and physical development. Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all children and families. Model positive interactions and encourage cooperative play and problem-solving skills. Follow all policies, procedures, and Ministry of Education licensing requirements to ensure health, safety, and well-being of children. Collaborate with the program team to ensure smooth daily routines and transitions.

Qualifications

Experience working with children (school-age preferred). Willingness to obtain

Standard First Aid & CPR Level C

within 3 months of employment.

Vulnerable Sector Check

(clear), completed within 3 months of employment. Up-to-date immunizations as required by the Ministry of Education. Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills. Dependability and flexibility to work split shifts.

Schedule

Morning Shift:

6:45 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. (approx.)

Afternoon Shift:

2:45 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. (approx.) Additional hours may be available on non-instructional days (PA Days, school breaks, summer).

Compensation

Competitive hourly wage.

Shift Premium

for split-shift scheduling.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
