The Bartender is responsible for preparing classic and innovative alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bar patrons and those dining in the restaurant along with food order taking. This position works closely with the servers and restaurant management team for prompt preparation and delivery of beverages.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
Restock and replenish bar inventory (spirits, wine, beer, non-alcoholic, mixes) and supplies (glassware, drink condiments, bar equipment, utensils, etc.) for service readiness.
Welcome bar patrons, present bar menu, assess customer's needs and preferences, making recommendations and taking drink orders
Prepare drink orders in a timely manner
Offer the appropriate food menu (time of day), make suggestions and take orders.
Interact and engage with the patrons in a professional and fun manner during service, making sure to offer additional drinks or food as needed.
Prepare Server drink orders for restaurant patrons in a timely manner
Assist Servers with delivering drink orders when the restaurant is busy
If in doubt about the patron's age, check their identification to confirm they meet the legal drinking age
Operate POS system and provide bills to patrons
Collect payment from bar patrons
Maintain a clean work area throughout service
Ensure patrons do not leave the bar inebriated. Follow the protocols of Restaurant Management and Smart Serve.
Ensure compliance with the provincial and local liquor and food health & safety regulations
Develop new cocktail signature recipes
Taking inventory and ordering supplies and ingredients to ensure bar par levels.
Follow the cash out and closing procedures at the end of each shift
Be well versed on the resort's services and facilities
May perform other duties and functions as assigned based on business levels throughout the resort by the Food & Beverage Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bartending experience required - ability to create classic cocktails and new ones
Valid Smart Serve Certification
Food Safe Handling Certification
POS computer knowledge
Good knowledge of wines, beers and spirits
Excellent guest relations and communication skills
Possess strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
Professional attitude and appearance at all times
Knowledge of health and safety practices as directed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the resort's health and safety standards
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works the majority of time indoors and outdoors during patio season (summer months)
May carry hot or cold food plates/trays
Must be able to bend, reach and lift at least 30lbs.
Requires some heavy lifting, moving of furniture and equipment
Must be able to walk and stand for an average of 8 hours per shift.
Must be able to work flexible hours including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
