We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Barista to join our team in a fast-paced cafe environment at Second Cup Cafe, Newmarket. The ideal candidate will have a love for coffee and customer service, with the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere for our guests. As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and food items according to established recipes and standards. Operate the Aloha POS or Micros POS systems for order processing and cash handling. Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers, taking orders accurately, and addressing any inquiries or concerns. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe area, including equipment, utensils, and seating areas. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures. Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of coffee beans, supplies, and food items. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during peak hours. Utilize time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively while maintaining quality service.

Experience

Previous barista experience is preferred but not required; we are willing to train motivated individuals. Familiarity with coffee preparation techniques and equipment is a plus. Experience in the food industry or retail environment is beneficial. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele. Basic math skills for cash handling and retail math tasks are essential. Knowledge of food safety practices and food preparation standards is advantageous. Pay: $17.60 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
