Barista - Pastry Cafe

Location: Barrie, Ontario

Reports To: Cafe Owner and FOH Manager

Overview

Butter Bay Pastry House is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Barista to help to lead the front-of-house team at our cozy pastry cafe. Where hand-crafted pastries are made fresh daily, and every cup of coffee is brewed with care. This role is ideal for someone who loves quality coffee, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering warm, memorable service.

As Barista, you'll oversee beverage preparation, work among a small barista team, and ensure our guests feel welcome and well-cared-for from the first sip to the last bite.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure a smooth and friendly service experience. Maintain high standards for drink preparation, presentation, and consistency--especially during busy hours. Maintain proper espresso techniques, cafe etiquette, and knowledge of our daily selection of hand-crafted pastries. Manage POS operations, cash handling, and end-of-day reporting. Coordinate closely with the kitchen and baking team to ensure pastries are beautifully displayed and restocked as needed. Uphold cleanliness and cafe ambiance, including front counter, seating areas, and restrooms.
Qualifications & Skills

1 Year Minimum experience as a barista or supporting cafe role, coffee shop, or bakery. Deep knowledge of coffee, espresso-based drinks, and brewing techniques. Strong communication skills and a passion for creating a welcoming guest experience. Familiar with POS systems and day-to-day operational responsibilities. Flexible availability, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
