Job Description

We are hiring a PERMANENT into the fall, PART TIME barista support position for our busy, fast-paced cafe in downtown Halifax. Employees stay with us for years, so we're hoping to find the right fit for ongoing employment, where you'll be happy for a long time.

The ongoing position will cover Mondays from 7:30am to 3:30pm, Fridays from 10am to 2:00pm, and Saturdays from 8:30am to 2:30pm. However, there are many other shifts available through July and August to cover vacations for your co-workers. Hours may change as we progress through the summer and into fall, and other shifts may become available as co-workers take vacation days or sick days that need to be covered.

Responsibilities include:

- Selling food and drinks including alcohol and espresso drinks

- Dialing in espresso machine

- Maintaining quality and tracking inventory

- Complying with food safety

- Accurately completing cash-out procedures

- Maintaining clean work space

What we're looking for:

- Previous experience working as a barista for at least six months, and experience dialing in an espresso machine to achieve the best flavour and balance is an asset

- Naturally friendly, outgoing, and welcoming

- Great sense of customer service and hospitality

- Clean and organized

- Detail oriented

- Great at multitasking

- Accurate with cash

- Ability to work independently

- Common sense

Pay:

Pay is competitive, plus tips. Pay is biweekly and tips are distributed weekly, divided equally among all positions, based on hours worked.

A valid food safety certificate is a plus, but if you do not have one, we can help you arrange to get one.
