Youth Opportunities Unlimited is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Caf\xc3\xa9 Assistant - Barista \xe2\x80\x93 Youth Mentor. Reporting to the Manager, Food Services - Enterprise, the Caf\xc3\xa9 Assistant / Youth Mentor is responsible for production in the front of house operations of YOU\xe2\x80\x99s food services as well as direct customer interaction. In collaboration with the back of house this position will ensure that youth receive exemplary training while daily production requirements are met. The Caf\xc3\xa9 Assistant / Youth Mentor provides supervision of youth and volunteers of food services, participating in the training and development of staff/youth trainees. The Caf\xc3\xa9 Assistant / Youth Mentor is responsible for ensuring the completion and standards of food production at the site they work at. The Caf\xc3\xa9 Assistant/ Youth mentor is responsible for direct interaction with guests of food service sites, providing exemplary service, while training youth on how to provide service. The Caf\xc3\xa9 Assistant / Youth Mentor keeps the food service areas in compliance with all health and safety regulations by ensuring adherence to sanitary and safe food handling guidelines, assisting in the adherence to Food Safety protocols. Training of youth is paramount, and the Caf\xc3\xa9 Assistant / Youth Mentor assists in the mentoring of skills to Youth Trainees including youth skills development programming with specific emphasis on youth employment training and job attainment in a dynamic team environment. This position will work closely with the manager to ensure all staff are working in line with YOU\xe2\x80\x99s Mission, Vision and Values. As part of Enterprise Services, this role works closely with other staff including: Cooks, Employment and Housing staff, Team leaders and other individuals to best coordinate a wrap-around approach to services to achieve successful outcomes for youth. Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Engage and support youth participants to develop Hospitality, employment, and life skills \xc2\xb7 Represent the agency during customer interactions providing exemplary service \xc2\xb7 Supervise, produce and execute operations for food services \xc2\xb7 Monitor, update inventory levels and create packing slips for internal and external transfers \xc2\xb7 Support with the collection of program data to track use and program outcomes \xc2\xb7 Maintaining a safe and clean work environment; ensuring all legislated standards are upheld \xc2\xb7 Demonstrated compliance with all governmental and regulatory requirements ensuring safe food handling practices Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 1 years related work experience \xc2\xb7 Recommended Education: Customer Service certificate, \xc2\xb7 Assets: o Safe Food Handling Certification o First Aid o Smart Serve \xc2\xb7 Demonstrated ability to engage, coach, mentor and support youth participants and staff \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of standards for cleanliness and hygiene in the various kitchen areas including refrigerators and storerooms and that food products are rotated to ensure high standards of freshness. \xc2\xb7 Experience with providing table side service or working in a quick service restaurant, experience using a Point-Of-Sale \xc2\xb7 Demonstrated professional work habits, encourage staff to act with integrity and recognize this trait in others and reward them appropriately. \xc2\xb7 Experience with training youth to complete work and side duties to staff in accordance with departmental procedures. \xc2\xb7 Strong communication skills including communicating additions or changes to the assignments as they arise throughout the shift. \xc2\xb7 Ability to adhere to all Youth Opportunities Unlimited Guidelines, Policies, Rules and Regulations.
