What you will be doing:
  • Leading and supervising the Banquet team to ensure service standards are followed
  • Supporting the Director, Banquets in administrative duties, including but not limited to: scheduling, payroll, ordering, inventory, etc.
  • Consistently offering professional, friendly and proactive guest service by addressing guest concerns quickly, responding with empathy, and ensuring proper communication and follow-up of guest concerns
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing the Banquet team by consistently providing timely and meaningful feedback and recognition, conducting annual performance reviews, and initiating incentive programs
  • Developing and maintaining banquet policies, procedures and standards within the department to continuously improve quality, guest and colleague experience, and costs
  • Maintaining consistent floor presence by supervising and inspecting all aspects of executing events, including set-up, food service, clearing, and clean-up, ensuring brand standards are maintained
  • Creating unforgettable experiences for our guests by effectively communicating all banquet related materials to the kitchen & other support departments as required
  • Collaborate with the Conference Services & Catering teams to maintain luxury service, exceptional guest service, and a five-star guest experience
  • Ensuring proper staffing and scheduling of Banquet team in accordance with labour, productivity and CBA guidelines
  • Contributing to a positive working environment by ensuring all colleague concerns are addressed in a timely, empathetic, and meaningful manner
  • Proactively managing employee relations by conducting one-on-ones, daily shift briefings, and providing on-going support & guidance
  • Actively participating and ensuring representation in the Housekeeping department in our Recognition Committee, Health & Safety Committee, and Planet 21 (Sustainability Committee)
  • Championing Health & Safety policies and procedures by actively promoting a safe working environment, improving fire safety and emergency procedures, recording accidents and conducting investigations, and participating in return to work programs
  • Following all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Completing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
QualificationsYour experience and skills include:
  • Service focused personality is essential and previous Banquet leadership experience required
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders
  • Communicate thoughts, actions and opportunities clearly with strong networking skills
  • Ability to lead by example, believe in a strong team culture and set the scene for high performance
  • Previous experience with a Union environment an asset
  • Serving It Right certification required
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including weekends, late nights, early mornings, and holidays
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Frequent kneeling, pushing and pulling
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
  • Proven ability to carry three entr\xc3\xa9e plates or more at one time
